We planned to build and deploy a fully private AI system for a firm using LLaMA 3 70B, completely self-hosted and compliant with strict legal data policies. Designed as an internal GPT-4-tier legal analyst, this solution automates document analysis, complex Q&A, and summarization—without relying on any third-party APIs or external LLM providers.

The system is powered by a modular, automation-first architecture using workflow automation to streamline ingestion, response, and communication—delivering control, security, and real-time intelligence.

Phase 1: Private LLM + Vector RAG System

Trigger: Initiated by staff questions or document uploads.

Key Capabilities:

• Self-Hosted LLaMA 3 70B: Deployed on CoreWeave A100 GPUs, quantized and accelerated via vLLM on a private encrypted cloud.

• Document Embedding with ChromaDB: Internal case law, filings, and contracts are converted to embeddings and stored in a private vector DB. With embedding model (text-embedding-3-small or BAAI) to convert document chunks into vectors, then store.

• LlamaIndex RAG Pipeline: Enables real-time, context-aware answers and summaries directly from internal legal documents.

Phase 2: Workflow Automation

Trigger: New documents added or staff submits queries.

Functionality:

• Doc Monitoring & Embedding: Watches a shared Google Drive folder, processes new legal documents, chunks and embeds them in ChromaDB.

• LLM-Powered Summarization & Routing: Generates document summaries and routes them to the appropriate paralegal via Slack or email.

• Real-Time Q&A: Staff can query the system through a simple Streamlit interface and receive legal-context answers instantly.

• Compliance Logging: Every interaction is logged securely for audit and reporting.

Phase 3: UI, Security, and Flexibility

Trigger: Ongoing internal use and scaling.

Functionality:

• Web UI via Streamlit: Simple, internal-facing interface for chat, questions, and summaries.

• Secure Deployment: JWT auth, IP restriction controls, and full audit logging ensure data integrity and compliance.

• No Traditional Backend: AI workflow serves as the orchestrator, with no overhead
